Something Fishy at AOL

AOL has inked a deal with (i.e. “bought”) Singingfish to use its technology to boost audio and video content searches for AOL subscribers. Hopefully, AOL Singingfish will work out better than AOL Time Warner but, not only is this late to the table, but it’s tougher than heck to escape AOL’s trademark kiss of death.

Security is the key

In the wake of an persistent attempts to capture passwords and account info from PayPal customers –and with no pro-active solution on the horizon from PayPal itself (yeah, like it can solve anything)– customers are being warned to always check for the “https” (secured site) URL prefix before entering sensitive data. Works like a charm until the bad guys figure out how to duplicate an HTTPS URL….

The average freshman at Miami University takes 18 appliances to campus, according to a March survey by the school. ‘’Kids used to come to college with an AM radio and an electric razor. Now they arrive with every electronic device there is,'’ said Roger Fisher, director of residential services. ‘’They come to campus in a U-Haul, and Dad follows in a Suburban.

Microsoft in Deal with GameSpy for Online PC Games

Innovative gaming technology company GameSpy said on Wednesday that it had signed a deal with Microsoft Corp. that will help turn the software maker’s personal computer games into online games. Rumored to be on tap is an online version of the PC version of th Xbox blockbuster Halo.
