On Monday Adobe launched Acrobat.com, still another of the numerous document collaboration sites, in beta form.
What do you get on Acrobat.com? Well, you can see the offered services in the screenshot of their website above: document creation, conferencing, .PDF conversion, file sharing and cloud storage.
According to the press release, Acrobat.com offers the following hosted services:
- Adobe Buzzword, a Web-based word processor that can be used to easily co-author and share documents for comment and review, creating high-quality print results. Buzzword is a Flash-based word processor and was originally developed by Virtual Ubiquity, which Adobe acquired last September.
- Adobe ConnectNow, a personal Web conferencing service that includes desktop sharing, video and voice conferencing and integrated chat;
- Adobe Share, centralized online file sharing with access controls, online PDF conversion for up to five documents, and support for high quality, Web-embeddable documents;
- Developer APIs for real-time collaboration, file sharing and conversion.
For those interested, the amount of storage you get in your account is the fairly typical 5 GB.
Besides that, Acrobat.com offers cloud storage for Acrobat 9, which was also announced on Monday. The best part of Acrobat 9 isn’t cloud storage, however, it’s the Flash support. Yes, you got it: you could embed a YouTube video into a .PDF if you want.
The final version of Acrobat 9 ships in July.

LZW says:
So put the FLASH file inside of the PDF file… Does this mean all those annoying web sites that say you must install a plugin just to view the main page will go away?
