Want Windows Vista SP1? Better Get Patched Today

It’s Patch Tuesday, and if you want to update to Windows Vista SP1 next month, you’d better get your updates.
As we know, because of driver issues, it’s not going to be a slam-dunk to upgrade to Windows Vista SP1 when it releases to the public. But Microsoft also has some prerequisites you need to install. One has already been rolled out and the final two were released today via Windows Update.
KB937287 is a servicing stack update and KB938371 is a multi-component update. However, KB938371 will not be offered to Windows Vista Enterprise / Windows Vista Ultimate users until KB9355509 is installed - just to be clear. So for those versions of the OS, three fixes are prerequistes. KB935509 was released in January, BTW.
All these updates are marked as “important” in Windows Update and will be installed automatically if you have Windows Update set to what Microsoft deems is the recommended configuration: install automatically - according to the blog post announcing these updates.
Of course, I don’t do that, because I prefer to see what’s coming in before I update, but that’s just me.
