Is the Aibo Back?

For many it was a sad day in 2006 when Sony put the Aibo down. Stuff magazine has a rumor piece in its latest issue (don’t you just hate it when they use that old paper stuff instead of the web?) that gives a better than 50 / 50 chance that the Aibo could be back, as a adjunct to the PS3. What’s the point of the new guy, though? Well, his new name will be the Aibo PS, and he’ll work wirelessly with your PSP and PS3. He’ll have a built-in headcam, and he can stream POV video to your PS3 via Wi-Fi.
Additionally, he’ll get his own avatar within Home. You’ll even be able to download new personalities for the Aibo from the PlayStation network.
And, you can even set the dog into “guard” mode, though I’m sure he’ll be even less of a threat to burglar than a Chihuahua.
We Say: Now, of course, all of this depends on the rumor being true. The article gives a 53% chance of this happening. Not that good, really. But if the Pleo can “hatch” a year late, why not give Aibo a second chance?
