Computerized Snore-Stopping Pillow Invented

How many of these types of inventions have we seen, though? Snoring, the bane of wives (as most snorers are male), is one of those things most have learned to live with. Still, if you could stop it, who wouldn’t? The thing is, this is just a prototype, and who knows how much it’ll cost!
Daryoush Bazargani, professor of computer science at the University of Rostock and the inventor, displayed it at a health conference in Germany on Wednesday.
“The pillow is attached to a computer, which is the size of a book, rests on a bedside table, and analyses snoring noises,” Bazargani told Reuters.
“The computer then reduces or enlarges air compartments within the pillow to facilitate nasal airflow to minimize snoring as the user shifts during sleep,” he said.
We Say: That’s not the half of it. You can also use the pillow for neck massages. Of course, if the anti-snore feature doesn’t work, your spouse may end up wrapping that hose around your neck, but that’s another story.

John Corliss says:
We have noise canceling earphones, why doesn’t somebody make a system that will generate a noise that cancels out snores and play it through a speaker mounted on the headboard?

Dale says:
Noise canceling has to be done at the source (or confined point of the noise relative to the listener) to match the waveforms correctly. Otherwise you get a doubling of the volume in some places and cancellation in others.
Sound waves are like waves in water, you can experiment to see the results.

Adam says:
Curing the snore would be the better idea rather than just canceling the noise. If the airway is getting obstructed, getting a solution is the best thing to do or it might be a long term health risk
