I'm afraid I am an XP user (wish I could use a Mac but can't at work).

And I think MbC above has said everything I'd want to say.

Currently, the only reason anyone is "using" Vista is if the poor bast***s had to buy a new PC after the release of Vista. MS pulled PC distribution with XP on it so you were forced to buy Vista. Dell has announced that you may now buy PCs from them with XP on it. Hmmm, tell you anything? The other telling factor was when Vista was released, you had to figure that copies of XP-in-the-box (or OEM versions) would be being dumped at discount prices all over the Internet - but in fact, most places had doubled their prices for copies of XP!!!!

Now don't get me wrong, XP sucks too, but if they think mainstream PC users are going to fall all over themselves about a new OS version, they are dead wrong. There is no reason to go to Vista - Security? Yeah, right. MicroSoft & security should NEVER be used in the same sentence!!!

What other compelling reasons are there to go to Vista? What can it do that you can't do now? Especially for business users, it only provides compatibility issues, unnecessary application software replacement (oops, excuse me, "Upgrades") that provide no more functionality than the version that they replace, and unnecessary expense!!! What a great idea to Upgrade to Vista!!!

And why did Dell and Intel (the 2 largest "MicroSoft Partners") both announce that they are not going to upgrade to Vista until Service Pack 1 is released? Hmmm, obviously they did not feel any urgency (or need!) to switch to Vista, as it doesn't offer any more productivity type advantages!!! Or, maybe they were terrified of the way it "works", and want others to finish Beta-testing Vista in real-use scenarios before they bite the bullet and migrate to please their Overlord!!!!

And no, I am not a Linux user, I "use" (am abused by) XP Pro, so I'm in the same boat as everybody else!

For Vista to still be usable for folks three years from now, it would first have to become usable. That's not something I see happening any time soon.
