SanDisk Announces Cruzer Contour U3 Drive Availability

By Martin Regtien
Contributing Writer, RealTechNews

SanDisk ContourJust a couple of weeks and you’ll be able to check out the contours of the latest SanDisk Cruzer Contour for yourself. Here’s a sleek new flash drive, a bit like a switchblade: to flick out the USB connector just use your thumb to slide the top of the Cruzer Contour.  It’s a bit like the Titanium model except the switch is invisible…
We just might have this model land on our desk in the very near future when we have a SanDisk Show, featuring their latest models.

In the meantime read more details from Australia here.

U3 is a virus and should be killed. I don’t like buying a storage device that has some of the storage used and malware installed.

So then don’t. I’ve never considered Skype or FireFox ‘malware’, but I guess you do.

Charles you are an idiot my friend. U3 _is_ a virus because ScanDisk allows it to INSTALL without first ASKING the user if they want it. Software that modifies my system without my permission is a virus. Many in the Internet community are getting together and will seek legal action against the SanDisk company. This is similar to the Sony DRM virus issue that got Sony in some very hot water. SanDisk made a big mistake!

I totally agree that U3 is a virus. Charles is wrong because he’s talking about Firefox and Skype, not U3. It infects whatever computer it gets access to. I just bought an 8 gb Cruzer Micro stick yesterday, and when I plugged it into my computer it installed a whole bunch of stuff without asking me. I’m also unable to remove U3 from my stick, not matter what I’ve tried and that includes their uninstallers and the built in button in the settings. I sent Sandisk a very nasty email and reminded them about Sony and the DRM rootkit. In my opinion, this is exactly the same kind of thing. And one last thing, after this experience I would not DREAM of inserting that stick in some poor unsuspecting friend or relative’s computer. Maybe I’d to it to my worst enemy.. nah, I wouldn’t even do that.
