Microsoft’s Kitchen Client

If you’re like me, you kinda cringed a little when you first read the title, but, Microsoft is developing customized Windows platforms for rooms around the home, and the first appears to be the kitchen client.

The “Kitchen Client” software will extend the Windows operating system and integrate with current and future Windows Live services, according to sources close to the company. It sounds, from what I can tell, more like an add-on layer than a whole new version of Windows.

Among the features Microsoft is planning to make part of its forthcoming kitchen computing environment are a family calendar, recipe center, entertainment features and a shared bulletin board, sources added. Source: All About Microsoft

We Say: I can see the cartoons now, reboot the knife honey, reboot the knife! Wonder what they would be developing for the bedroom? A calendar would certainly dull things up, a recipe type of application might be good, if done right ;) , but what kind of entertainment features could they add there? Think they will collaborate with the porn industry on the bedroom client? Man, so many things I shouldn’t say…..

The “Kitchen Client” looks like it would be helpful…Iam pretty unorganized and I think this would better help me and others with home matters.

We here at BigOven (www.bigoven.com) have been exploring this area for a little while. Grocery shopping list management, meal planning, and nutrition management is definitely an area that computing can make simpler. However, multiple efforts have been attempted in the past in this area, and we’ll have to see how well it’s executed!
