The highly-acclaimed ViP622 DVR(tm) is the perfect complement to DISH Network's extensive lineup of HD programming -- and it's free to new customers who qualify. One of the most advanced multi-room HD DVR receivers on the market today, the ViP622 DVR boasts the only true 30-second skip feature in the industry -- allowing subscribers to watch television commercial-free.
Who will tell me now that directv or any cable companies have better quality in clarity for their channels...Im from AUSTIN,Texas and had time warner cable serices, then as my uncle is working with a subcontractor for dish and directv, we have both their services (we have also their top of the line hd dvr, but dish hd-dvr is way better than directv hd dvr

Agreed, in many ways my TiVo is still superior to my Dish Network DVRs. But I find myself using it less and less for a few reasons:

1. I have a Dish 522 hooked up to the bedroom and the family room. It's very nice to be able to watch recording from either room. I could buy another TiVo and pay an additional monthly fee, but I get this capability from Dish as part of my subscription plan

2. In my living room I have HDTV. TiVo wasn't offering an HDTV DVR when I got it installed, and Dish was. I see TiVo has one now, but it's too much extra money, too late.

3. Dish has been improving the features of it's DVR, including better search and a Season Pass like feature. It's still not as good as TiVo, but again, I'm not sure TiVo is worth paying the extra money.

I keep my one TiVo subscription for now, because I still like some of the extra features sometimes. And I would jump for joy if Dish started using TiVo technology. But Dish is now "close enough", and in some ways better, so I end up using my Dish DVR more than my TiVo.
