DitchMail - When You Really Want to Ditch a Caller

Don’t want to answer a call, but don’t even want to take a voicemail from someone? Here’s a way to do it. YouMail allows you to set up customized greetings for specific users, as well as retrieve messages online or by phone. Well, with the DitchMail part of their service, you can have a customized message for a caller … and not allow them to leave a message.

You’re in control over who can leave you messages. Pick a caller and select the “DitchMail” feature. You can choose to record a special greeting or not. Either way they won’t be able to leave a voicemail. Source: YouMail.com

We Say: I was thinking, sometimes my in-laws … this could be useful for … not because I don’t like them, but because sometimes my wife wants to ditch them because they talk for — ever … :-)

This service is great, I’ve been a user for about a month now and I can say that it actually has a number of brilliant uses. Eliminating phone tag has got to be the biggest one for me, rather than call back and forth, I simply set a new voicemail greeting to the caller i want. Then when they call they get the info i needed to give them.

In response to blake: I don’t know why you think this will make it any less discreet, you can make your greetings as simple as “beep”

To consumerjournal: if it does require cookies or spyware i have not encountered it yet, the internet facet of this is just a bonus and organizational tool, you can do all of it from your phone.
