Apple to Drooling Fans: iPhone Ships in June

It’s been speculated that the iPhone will ship in June, and now Apple has confirmed it … not overtly, but in emails it has sent to those who signed up for more information.
The company has written to users who have signed-up for more information about the device when it ships. The email — which is titled “talk to you soon” — promises customers: “Thanks for signing up. You’ll be the first to hear the latest about iPhone — coming this June. That gives you just enough time to think of ways to break the news to your current phone.” Source: PC World
We Say: It’s still not going to get me to switch, and I want real keys … and besides, I have another 1 1/2 years since my last new phone.

I just have a nagging feeling that this will be the Edsel of the new millennium.
The Edsel was over hyped. When the public realized that it was just a car with a few cute features, it bombed.
iPhone has decent video…but not enough storage to use it properly. It’s a phone that has a wonky touch-interface. Touch screen interfaces are really cool in theory, but they don’t fly too well in the real world.
This is not the Second Coming, it’s a freaking phone!
I predict lots of sizzle, but no steak.

I never saw a piece of new tech I didn’t like but, frankly, I couldn’t care less about this phone. And it sure wouldn’t get me to change providers.

[…] Apple’s finding it’s not quite as easy to complete a cell phone as they thought. In order to make the June date that previously was announced, Apple’s had to pull people off the next release of their OS, code-named Leopard. “iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard as planned,” said Apple in a rather brief statement.
