Volkswagen Re-defines the Sled

By Alice Hill
RealTechNews

German engineering. We’ve come to expect greatness, but who would think the lowly snow sled would get such a dose of high end, jaw-dropping design? The only catch: The site from Volkswagen is only in German and you can’t seem to buy them in the US yet despite pretty reasonable price tags. I have gathered a few of the best models and tried to translate the text, but damn, don’t these beat the lame plastic sleds, metal discs, and arm-severing wood and metal numbers we dealt with as kids?

Jet Powered Volkswagen Beetle

We get this a lot. A police officer picking at his nose while trying to figure out what to charge me with. Notice the hopeful anticipation of us on the right. We’re rooting for him and offer suggestions but unfortunately, the California Department of Motor Vehicles did not anticipate such a vehicle so he’s out of luck. Hmmm, the car has two engines making the car a hybrid so maybe we can drive in the commuter lanes along with the Toyota Priuses.

What you see in the picture is about one-twentieth the full size of the fireball. Guy standing beside car had never seen it run before and was smiling ear-to-ear throughout the show. Had I launched, I would have burned him to a crisp.

sorry to dissapoint you, but they really haven’t redesigned anything. Me and my brother had sleds almost identical to the top one(except ours were batman sleds) and a sister had one almost identical to the second (though it was a barbie sled). We had these 15 years ago. On the plus side, that top sled is really The Best sled i’ve ever been on. It turns like nothing else and even has a brake. It was a sad, sad day when i outgrew that sled.

Those sleds are available all over the place, just not with that lame VW logo on them.
If they were designed by VW, they would just fall apart after one use anyway.

ok put the jet on the sled, you can then sled down and up the hill. and i would love to see that car run in the self rightious lane and piss off the prius drivers. it is a hybrid. and can anyone tell me why it is that i see people with paticular political leaning bumperstickered all over their cars running slow in the left lane with a few folks in their car, but they wont move into the hov lane and get out of the way of productive people in society. weren’t they the ones pushing the idea about how much it will save us and how easier things will be to have a carpool lane, and they wont even use it. get out of the way, you are the cholesterole in the veins of life.
