Google Faces Online Video Lawsuit

The deal for YouTube hasn’t completed yet, but here’s a lawsuit for Google’s own video service, launched in January. And Google itself admitted that this could be a preview of things to come once the YouTube deal completes.

Without providing detail, Google disclosed the video copyright lawsuit in a quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A Google spokesman didn’t have any further information about the suit late Wednesday afternoon.

We Say: I hope this doesn’t come as a surprise. I’m more worried about YouTube, though. As the article states (and is clear to most), YouTube is popular because of the copyrighted stuff that’s there … not because of crazy one-off videos by John Q. Public. I’m sure there’s more to come.
