					<description>The problem is that the Sony Rep I contacted said A. Sony was only replacing the batteries if the system was still under warranty AND B. They are not responsible for any other damage.

We have a $3000 GRT Vaio that is a doorstop because the battery overheated, shorted out and messed up the motherboard right after the 1 year warranty.

Sigh.</description>

I have two of them (an old PictureBook which eats batteries, and a new T27GP that is on it's second battery in 18 months and has never got the sort of battery life they claim). My CyberShot was also terrible on battery life.
I was in the market for a PS3 and a new laptop. Now if it's my own money I'll probably get something from AlienWare(Dell) or Toshiba for computing duties and an xbox360 for fun.
It's not just exploding batteries that's hurting Sonys reputation - it's their attitude that's turning even long term, formerly loyal, customers away</description>
