Don’t Drink and Drive … or Buy Online, Either!

Impulse buying is still more of an activity done at grocery store checkout aisles, but under the influence, anything is possible. A new term’s even been invented … “sip and click.” It’s so easy to login and buy something, and with many sites remembering your credit card information for you, you don’t even have to be sober enough to type that in … though I’m surprised these people can still remember their site passwords.
“I logged on to this luxury jewelry Web site and I bought her a pair of $1,500 earrings–or what I thought were $1,500 earrings,” said Kenny, who works at an intellectual property law firm in Burlington, Vt. “Maybe my vision was blurred or I just missed a decimal point, but they turned out to be $15,000.”
It’s not the sort of thing people like to admit. “You don’t want to sound like a boozehound,” said one woman, who didn’t remember ordering several books from Amazon until the packages started arriving. Source: News.com
We Say: Kenny had another episode of accidental buying, so like I indicated with site passwords, he made his PC password complicated so he couldn’t login while drunk. Another reason, besides simple security, for a strong password.
