SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 2GB Review

Free wi-fi is cool, but sometimes you have to resort to an Internet Café. That’s nice as well, if you really need it, but what I miss is having the programs that I normally use installed on the computer. U3 Flash Drives take care of that issue by having the U3 Platform pre-installed on the flash drive, along with any of your personal favorites that have U3 versions.
Enter the Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 2GB flash drive (my thanks to Sandisk for the unit). Let me tell you, usually when I use a flash drive it’s a generic SD card stuck into my old trusty Lexar Jumpdrive Trio. But that’s not exactly an elegant solution, and the Jumpdrive, being fairly old, is pretty clunky and does not fit well into vertically mounted USB ports ( if you have something else plugged into the other port, the Trio won’t fit).

While the form factor of the Sandisk cruzer is nice the U3 software that comes pre-installed was not something I desired when I purchased my 1G jumpdrive. The packaging says that it comes with U3 software, it doesn’t say that the U3 software is required to run each and every time you want to use the jumpdrive. I am not a fan of software that I do not choose to run and I am dissapointed that even with some research into U3 that information is not up front (I don’t need my spreadsheet program running in the background when I am not using it).
U3 is a good idea, but it doesn’t seem “ready for prime time” and many of its software offerings are also available for download to run off of any jumpdrive rendering the U3 software redundant.

well u know U3 has the removal tool……..it was the first thing i did when i NOTICED THE SOFTWARE liked to run everytime i inserted my flash drive. I paid for a 2 GB drive NOT A 1.8GB drive, i formatted my drive with the U3 uninstallation utility and I HAVE A REAL FLASH DRIVE NOW. FOR BOTH MY CRUZER DRIVES
