Radio Shack Delivers Pink Slips via E-Mail

I wrote earlier about a UK worker being fired by text message. It was a body piercing studio, not necessarily a big company, so I might be able to forgive (somethat) that offense. But a company as large as Radio Shack delivering pink slips in email?
Employees at the Fort Worth headquarters received an e-mail Tuesday morning telling them they were being dismissed immediately. “The work force reduction notification is currently in progress,” the notice stated. “Unfortunately your position is one that has been eliminated.” Source: ABC News
We Say: According to the article, employees were told to expect layoff notification electronically, but please … can you be more impersonal? At least take the time to talk to the employee face-to-face and try to soften the blow.

What Radio Shack did to those 400 employees was bull. It doesn’t matter how big the company is–big or small–it’s just not right and is very impersonal. I wouldn’t work for any company that did that to their employees and if I’d been laid off by that company, I wouldn’t have anything nice to say about them. I guess those people never learned the Golden Rule. I hope they get sh*#$ed upon for what they did. Boycott Radio Shack! I know my family and I are. They’ll see their stock start to plummet and SMART investors won’t want anything to do with the company–they’ll start pulling out. I wouldn’t invest a red cent in a company who is that impersonal with their employees. Radio Shack is some employer! (sarcastically said).
