Trend Alert: Laser-Etching Coming to the Motorola RAZR

Not long ago we reported on some bad laptop laser etching gone horribly wrong. But the trend continues. Today, we found out that the venerable (if not borderline tired) Motorola RAZR cell phone is going for the laser-etched look - sporting a steely finish and a custom dragon tattoo design. (No word yet on pricing.)
Motorola is set to start offering “tattooed” versions of its ubiquitous clamshell, featuring designs by Ami James of the cable quasi-hit Miami Ink. He’ll be making designs exclusively for Motorola, who with then laser etch them on the phones for eager customers. Source: SciFi.com

Actually, this looks more like the tattoo shirt worn by Kevin Dillon on HBO’s comedy show, Entourage. Apparently the shirt is a major hit, and you can now pick one up at YellowMan T-Shirt store for a mere $215. Make the RAZR look like a bargain.

It’s not the best looking phone. Neither was that T-shirt. Just don’t get laser etching.

I checked out the tat shirt. I think they are cool. I’ve seen lots of tat shirts out there, but none with prints that cover the whole shirt like those do. I think they are all done by top tattoo artists too. I proudly wear some ink of my own, and I recognize some of the artists mentioned at the site. Pretty original idea. I wonder how they make them.
