Railway Tickets on Cell Phones

Thanks to Germany’s national railway, you can now buy tickets via your mobile phone, receive an MMS back, and use that as a ticket. The MMS is read by special scanners.

Customers who use the service receive a multimedia message on their mobile phones that’s read by new scanners and serve as a ticket, railway operator Deutsche Bahn said. Source: ABC News

We Say: The hope, expressed by railway operator Deutsche Bahn is that this will appeal to young people and businesspeople and increase ridership. It’ll certainly increase your messaging fees. :-)
