I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, since Sony manufactures batteries for more than just Dell … and I figured that the Dell recall would not be the end of it … today Apple announced it was recalling 1.8 million laptop batteries that had been manufactured by Sony.

Sony said in a separate statement that it did not anticipate further recalls of batteries using the potentially faulty cells. The giant Japanese electronics company said the Apple and Dell recalls would cost Sony between 20 billion yen and 30 billion yen ($172 million to $258 million).

Cupertino, California-based Apple will recall 1.1 million batteries sold with notebook computers in the United States and 700,000 abroad, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Source: Reuters

We Say: So that’s a total of 5.9 million Sony batteries recalled. There’s very little I need to add, but is that really it? Sony says it is, but are we truly done?
