Mark Russinovich is Off to Microsoft

He was the person who first brought the Sony DRM issue to light last year, and his Sysinternals site hosted tons of freeware that I currently use like Process Explorer and Rootkit Revealer. Well, Microsoft purchased both Sysinternals and Winternals, and now Mark Russinovich is off to Microsoft as a technical fellow.

We Say: Nooo! Mark says he will continue to blog, but still …

    Embrace and extend applies to people, too, I guess. I would feel much better if there are competent technical people NOT owned by MS. I still appreciate him busting Sony.

    Hmm, at the end of the day, people like to do nice things and help out friends and family, and a nice fat 200k annual salary certainly helps that out. He’s probably thinking: what can I fund with the salary boost *outside* of work. What do you guys think his new salary will be as a Technical Fellow?
