More Info on Argo … It’s Now Zune

Turns out the device or project code-named Argo, which I discussed previously, currently has the product name Zune. The proposed logo is shown above.

Additionally, it looks like Microsoft is approaching several 3rd party manufacturers of iPod accessories. In fact, accessory manufacturers have told iLounge that Microsoft will offer a program similar to Apple’s Made for iPod program, though with better rate than Apple.

Like all current iPods except for the iPod shuffle, Zune will feature a proprietary expansion port that Microsoft will allow companies to accessorize at a lower rate than the Made For iPod program, and one which a source suggests will likely lead to widespread iPod industry third-party support for the new device. We Say: Since this story first broke, it’s been accelerating like a snowball downhill. As I said previously, I think this is real and we’ll see something by Christmas, if nothing goes wrong.
