With each new file system and version of Windows which Microsoft comes up with, you have less and less access to what's actually on your hard drive. And the whole idea behind WinFS is yet another example of programmers trying to tell the user what's good for them.

Frankly, the whole idea behind Microsoft's continually changing horses in the middle of the stream, file-systemwise, is to ensure that other OSes like Linus are incompatible.

Yet another reason to avoid Vista like the plague. All it seems to be to me is yet more bloat and pointless, idiotic eye candy. I have no doubt that it will run slower than XP, just like every version of Windows has run slower than the previous one IME.

If Microsoft wants to sell a new version of Windows, all they have to do is to repair all the bugs in the current version and make all the bloat optional.
