A simple piece of plastic may be causing overheating issues in MacBooks, such that Apple had to write a support article about it. Apparently the rear vent may be covered by a clear piece of plastic that should have been removed at the factory.
Some MacBooks may have left the factory with a thin piece of clear plastic covering the rear vent. This is used in the factory to prevent dust from getting into your computer. If your MacBook has the plastic still over the vent, simply remove and discard it. Source: Apple
We Say: I have to admit, it’s easy to miss those clear plastic strips that are all over a lot of stuff we buy nowadays. That said, I’ve never seen a vent covered with that sort of plastic before — obviously an error. Something for you MacBook buyers to check for, just in case.
