Cerulean Studios Gives Users a Sneak Peek at Trillian “Astra”
By David Johnston
Contributing Writer, RealTechNews
Cerulean Studios has announced the name of the next version of Trillian today. Instead of going with their previous numbering schemes and calling the upcoming version “Trillian 4″, Cerulean Studios has decided to become a bit more creative and has named the new version “Trillian Astra”. Cerulean Studios has been very tight-lipped about what users can expect in the new version of Trillian, but they have promised that more information will be forthcoming. Currently the software is in a closed beta that is limited to 50 testers.
See the latest Cerulean Studios blog entry here and check out Trillian Astra’s website. After so long without any major updates to Trillian, this has gotten me very excited.

Useless to a Mac OS, but highly useful to an XP machine. Couldn’t live without it.
gAIM is better? Why do you suppose Trillian is far more recognized as a multi-protocol IM client?

Trillian is a great tool. Best $25 I ever spent. Do you hear the “but” coming?…. But, their support sucks. I have had and issue for months now, that they have given up even responding to. If that is the kind of service I should expect to get from their support then I may not ever buy it again. I did what they told me to do and it didn’t work. I went so far as to post to their forums and did I get a response from a Trillian developer? No.
All I have to say is that they really need to rethink the methodology they use for freaking license validation and come up with something better. Checking with thier server everytime just doesnt cut it.

Trillian sucks. I bought a new machine, reinstalled my Trillian, and it worked for two days and then quit. I have e-mailed them 5 times over the last week and haven’t even gotten a response. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THE PRODUCT AFTER SALE.
