So can I record 2 shows at the same time & watch a 3rd live on my TV? Currently have 2 VCR’s & once in a while have to record on both while watching TV. Tivo says I cannot watch a 3rd program if both tuner’s are recording. What’s true? doesn’t make sense that I can’t turn on my TV & watch independant of the Tivo unit.

So, Tivo had already been offering this version to satelite and cable subscribers? I wish it would’ve said that in the article.

That’s one thing DirecTV got right: offering TiVo series two units with dual tuners built-in.

You can hack the Tivo, stick in the huge hard drives, have two tuners, and not pay that much more (given how DirecTV — like Comcast digital cable — charges you by the tuner and how Tivo charges you).

We got two DirecTivo boxes and so can record four things while watching a fifth.
