This gizmo is a tiny device that projects a keyboard on any surface allowing you to type on the virtual keyboard. It even simulates key clicks for the retro effect. The Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard not only works with your desktop or laptop, but any bluetooth enabled device including PDAs, Smartphones and Tablets.

I own one, and it works reasonably well if the ambient light is not too bright. The Palm drivers are not very good, but they’re serviceable.

I would think that this may be an option for some niche uses — hospitals, where sanitation would be a problem; hostile environments with dust and contaminants, museums, or schools. Anywhere a mechanical keybord has a limited lifetime, replace with a virtual keyborad and seal the laser head in a hood with a clear window.

I was interested in this until I saw this is limited to 120 minutes on a rechargeable battery. That alone deters me away.
