Oops! Deleted Our Own Blog

Really, you have to watch that Delete key. Apparently Google deleted its own blog on Monday night … not only that, during that period, the blog address was claimed by another user. It wasn’t a hack, but a mistake.
“We’ve determined the cause of tonight’s outage. The blog was mistakenly deleted by us (d’oh!) which allowed the blog address to be temporarily claimed by another user. This was not a hack, and nobody guessed our password. Our bad,” Jason Goldman, Blogger Product Manager, wrote in a posting on the Google Blog. I’m more surprised that there was somebody lurking around that just happened to see that the blog was unregistered. Is this the type of thing that would be noticed by the casual surfer or are there people out there that all they do is check for the administrative mistakes of others in order to possible take advantage of situations like this?
