Openoffice or Word work for me. Writely assumes you are always connected to the 'net to edit your documents. Which isn't always the case for me -- sometimes I am somewhere without a net connection so I can concentrate on the writing. In addition, my employer would be very wary about internal documents being stored somewhere not owned by them.

I already have begun changing. I don't think software should cost as much as MS Office does, and then have limited support options. I think OpenOffice is a good solution for everyday word processing. I don't think I would store any confidential information in a document online, but if I was traveling and needed to fire off a quick letter to someone, writely might work.

Nope. Most of my word processing is for corporate purposes, and my employer would not appreciate confidential data saved to a service provider outside its control.

I installed OpenOffice for my out-laws, I mean in-laws, and it has worked well for their purposes.

I would consider either if I didn't already have MS Office from work.
