Microsoft Giving MacBook Pros, iPods Away

By Michael Santo
Contributing Writer, RealTechNews

They call it their “Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Spring Cleaning Sweekstakes.” I call it strangely weird. I mean, Microsoft giving away Apple equipment? :-)

You can win a MacBook Pro, Apple displays, and of course Office 2004 for the Mac. You can also win an Aeron office chair or an iPod. Four grand prize winners will be chosen, along with $60,000 in runner-up prizes, including some Microsoft stuff, like Xbox 360 consoles. You can enter here.

We Say: Yes, it’s still weirdly strange, but what the heck, I entered. One entry per person, of course.

Check the rules portion for the contest. It is not open to the general public, small business and home office folks only.

Hmmm. I looked at the rules, but didn’t see that portion.

Sorry, but the rules specifically state that the “general public” is not eligible. From the “Rules” page: “This is a trade promotion and is not open for entry by members of the general public.” It’s about nine lines down on the page.

So, that leaves a lot of folks out in the cold on this contest. Bummer.

A lot more than you would think even… Have you seen a field to fill in the country? A country? What’s that? Ah, well…

For some reason, I think I’ve just given too much information to the wrong place.
