Yesterday Microsoft unveiled details on its upcoming Office suite. Formerly named Office 12, it is now Office 2007. Pricing, based on a document by Microsoft, appears to be similar to current prices. Office 2007 Standard and Office 2007 Professional will be $399 and $499 retail, respectively.
New features will include a new user interface and new XML-based file formats. The Student and Teacher edition is gone and replaced with a $149 Home and Student edition. The Professional Plus and Enterprise editions can only be purchased by businesses through Microsoft’s volume-licensing program.
More details are available in a Microsoft Press Release here.
We Say: There was an initial beta released last year, and there’s one planned for the Spring. You can also register here for a chance to get into Beta 2. I also noticed: FrontPage is gone.
