How to Hack Google China

As an American, I have to say censorship is not high on my list. And when I read about Google censoring China’s access to information, I bristled and then stopped to think about it. “someone will find a hack,” I decided. And here we are.
Chinese web users can see full, uncensored results for their Google search by replacing “&meta;=” with “&meta;=cr%3DcountryBR” in the URL. Once the string is replaced, the censorship will not affect the results. Via: Diggdot.us

This is pointless as people in China can actually access google.com instead of google.cn to bypass the censorship of search results. And the real problem is that you would not be able to access those sites if they are in the blacklist even if you can see them in the search results. As far as I know, the only practical way to browse freely in China is to use a secure proxy or Tor.

Hmm.. not sure about the Chinese bypassing Google.cn by typing in google.com. Here in Ontario Canada, typing in Google.com will always bring you to Google.ca - big brother is here too !

The problem is not just whether Google is censoring what the Chinese citizen may or may not see, it is whether Google can be coerced into revealing which citizens are seeking out which information!
The only way we can impress our opions on Google is to boycott Google. If enough of us, in the West, switch off Google then its owners will get the message.
Come on America, if you really feel strongly about this then take some affirmative action - don’t use Google until it changes its China policy. I am boycotting it from today.

cool so what happens when google decides to censor the us were the ones that need it. oh well the ones with power to rule are always the ones that need to be ruled and never need to be ruling.
(oh yeah the answer is, learn a new language and get something other then Internet explorer.)
if people were disciplined enough to learn a new language then they wouldnt need to be censored.lol oh well. we will never learn.

Do you really think you get uncensored reports in US or UK media? The media says whatever your government allows it to reveal. That is why you only get the bad news coming out of Iraq and not the real story. Wake up: China is a wonderful peaceful place,and the Chinese people do a good job of managing THEIR country without outside interference. But meddling with other countries politics is something the Americans cannot do without. Wise up, China has one trillion US dollars in it’s Forex reserves, who do you think owns 30% of your pathetic country. I know about China, I live there.
