Yahoo and Linksys to Partner on Wireless Music Hardware
By Alice Hill
RealTechNews
I’ve never been a fan of iTunes because I can add. (spell, not so good!) Why pay .99 a song when you can download unlimited songs for $5 or so a month with Yahoo! Music? My computer is packed with great tunes I love, as well as music I am trying but would never ever buy, and if I really want to make a permanent copy, it’s only .79 a song to burn to a CD. That’s why I was pleased to see this deal announcement between Linksys and Yahoo! Music:
The $99.99 Linksys Wireless-G Music Bridge works with Yahoo Music Engine, and Yahoo said it would offer a $20 rebate on the Wireless-G Music Bridge if consumers sign up for a one-year subscription to its music service. A software plug-in links Yahoo Music Engine to the Linksys Wireless-G Music Bridge, allowing you to access your digital music. Source: DigitalTechNews

Thankyou. It’s nice to see a journo that’s to put it nicely, not gushing apple. I’ve never been a big fan of apple’s products ever since I had to use them proffesionally from ‘90-94. I think the fanaticism of the apple (ab)users turned me off far more than anything else, (apart from, being a coder, I like a box I can personally code for, and that didn’t really happen until OSX). To see the journalistic world (who I realise, a large majority of use apples to write their pieces), consistently and blindly praising their products, despite their being superior and cheaper products available raises a fair number of emotions in me. None of them positive. So, again, thankyou for being apart from the pack(/dreck?)

Thanks Bill King - I anger people all the time for not bowing in front of the iPod, but hey, sometimes you like substance over style. And the iRiver is just perfect for me and has a color screen, stores files and photos PLUS 20GB of music I can get for $58 a year.

Yeah, I’ve personally been a fan of creatives products and have owned two (a nomad jukebox 3, and now a nomad zen), with my partner owning a nomad zeeon. Solely for the reason the products are superior, for the equivalent price rangings. I’ve been considering going the yahoo music route as well, and seeing positive feedback on it, has helped a lot too (combined with going lappyfied as soon as my probations up and salary sacrificing kicks in), definately looking like a cool product
