I bought a Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad with a Core Duo processor in February of this year and it has been in for repair three times (it's now July). Just before sending it the last time, I had 7 blue-screen stop errors in one day, and never less than two for weeks. I've just learned that Intel has issued a new BIOS version for my machine which is supposed to fix the problems. IMO, Intel probably made the Core Duo to handle Vista, but overlooked the fact that it would also be installed in machines having older operating systems, like XP, which will probably be around for a long time (it's a proven OS and you don't have to buy a new computer to use it, or discard all your programs that won't work with Vista).

Intel has recently decided to discontinue use of the logo: "Intel-Inside," which many consider to be a warning label. :-)

For my use, it's AMD all the way.

Ouch... They're some pretty serious bugs in there too. Ranging from stability to exploitables to inaccurate calculations to system hangs. That's quite impressively bad...

I'm glad I went with the iMac G5 back in November. I was debating holding out for the Mactels but I'll trade stability for speed anyday.
