A Speakerphone for your Skype calls: The Actiontec VoSKY Chatterbox

Like most people, I am a Skype junkie. And like most, I have grown tired of my headset. Sometimes it’s in my backpack and I have to scramble to find it, other times I’ve left it at home just when the Skype call comes in, which is where this little innovative device called the Chatterbox comes in. The VoSKY Chatterbox from Actiontec is a palm-sized ultra-leightweight little speakerphone that frees you from the headset, and also allows you to have a real live conference call over Skype.
I tested the Chatterbox with my Skype account and it installed in under 5 minutes. I thought the sound was clear and the unit has easy to access volume controls, a mute bottom with a red LED indicator, and even an external jack to connect your headset if you need to speak privately. Bottom Line: At just under $30, this is the ultimate stocking stuffer and a really simple and elegant wayt to get even more out of Skype.

I got one today, Was a bit dissapointed my the low sensitivity of the Mic. I had to hold the device in hand to get a decent recording level.

That’s odd. I tested mine and was very audible many feet away in a noisy room. You may have to play with the setting of your PC’s volume. Set the PC volume higher and then drop the speaker phone’s volume a bit and it works really well. Other way around (low PC /high speaker phone) and you get more garble.
