Ballmer Still Shopping for His Own 360

Despite what you may think about the perks of being Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer’s kids are in the same position as a lot of us and a lot of our kids … Xbox 360-less.
“The Ballmer children do not have their Xbox 360 yet. I’m in the same boat as many of you,” Ballmer said. “Thanks to the wonders of Sarbanes-Oxley, management does not get a free Xbox 360,” he quipped at a meeting of technology industry executives. Source: Reuters
We Say: Much as I’d like to attribute his lack of an Xbox 360 to SOX, or to the crashes that have been occurring with some 360s, most likely Ballmer simply hasn’t had the time … either that or his kids are holding out for a PS3. It certainly isn’t because he can’t afford the eBay prices or that he can’t afford the tax hit if it were added to his income due to SOX.

Kaddy Shak says:
MSFT could set aside units for employees to buy. I am betting that Ballsmer does not play games and does not want his children playing them either.

Omari says:
Yeah, right–for Ballmer to get one, all he’s got to do is buzz his secretary and holler, “Get me an Xbox.”

He is probably telling the truth about not being able to get a production release model. I’m sure his kids have had prerelease 360s for quite awhile as they participated in the “real world” testing. Tis the way the world works. Ho, ho, ho!

Inglix the Mad says:
It was really disingenuous for Ballmer to quip that Sarbanes-Oxley caused it. Shame on you Stevie.
Next, who’s going to buy that. That’s like saying the guy running Ford can’t get a new Mustang when he wants one.

In other breaking news, Michael Dell is looking for a good deal on a computer and Steve Jobs is saving up for a new iPOD.
