G2G Exchange + Gmail = P2P

Google’s always been very generous with their space on Gmail, and developers have come up with way to use the over 2 GB of space as pseudo-hard drives … for example, GMail Drive and RoamDrive. Well, now someone has come up with a way to use your Gmail account to share files … G2G Exchange.
G2G is a website where you can easily share files, which are at your Gmail, with each other. You register at the website with your Gmail login data and your Gmail account will be indexed. After that everyone can see your files (including support for only the files you want them to see) and download/email them without ever knowing your login data. Source: G2G Exchange FAQ
Some caveats are: To upload files, you have to send yourself an email, or use GMail Drive or RoamDrive. Gmail only allows 20MB emails, so anything bigger has to be split with a compression tool. According to the FAQ, G2G will recognize split files and display them as one file. At the time of this writing, there are 687 users and 12.71 GB shared. You have to give the site your login info (G2G recommends setting up a Gmail account just for G2G), but only the site, not other users, will know the info.
We Say: It’s an interesting curiousity, but I doubt this will be around for long. Unlike GMail Drive and others, I would think Google would step in and have something to say about this because of the potential for piracy.
