Is Intel Gearing Up for a Huge Rebranding Campaign?

Rumors of a new branding for Intel processors have been rampant since the French website X86-Secret.com revealed shots of new logos and a new brand designation for Intel CPUs. Although the French site has been forced (?) to remove the pictures (the section of the page that had the photos now simply says, in French, “My dog ate the pictures.”), DigiTimes has a screenshot of the page (bottom of the article).
The picture shows a new Intel logo, with the “e” no longer slightly dropped from the rest of the name, with the circle from the “Intel inside” logo wrapped around the corporate name. Additionally, the new “Yonah” processor will be called simply “Core”, either Solo or Duo depending on single or dual core.
We Say: TG Daily also has some info as well, and indicated that Intel is shooting for an “emotional branding” tie between themselves and the consumer. It’s also interesting that, if the info is correct, they would choose such a nondescript name as Core for the new processor.

Stephen says:
Manufacturers look to “emotional branding” when the lack performance reasons to choose their products. get them hooked with good feelings about the brand so when upgrade time comes and they could choose AMD for better performance, they will stick with Intel. I remember when Intel marketed their processors based on performance, now they are treating them like soap and cereal.
