Memory Maintainer Saves Your Car’s Clock and Radio Settings

By Alice Hill
RealTechNews

Sometimes the simplest gadgets are the most useful. Case in point: when it comes time to change your car’s battery, do you suffer through the inevitable re-setting of your clock and favorite radio stations, or do you pop a 9-volt battery on the end of the Memory Maintainer and plug the little cable into your car’s cigarette lighter instead? The 9v battery is enough to keep your pre-sets happily set while you pop in the new battery.

Alice Asks: Why can’t they just build something like this into every car as standard equipment? If a clock radio, answering machine, and even a motherboard can hold charge during a power interruption, why can’t the simple automobile? Meanwhile, try the Memory Maintainer. At $15.95, it makes a great gift for the car lover in your life. Source: StrangeNewProducts

Ya know, this is pretty cool. Though the number of times I have had my battery disconnected is just once … when I replaced the battery.

If you’re a service shop, this is a great idea. As a private person, it will take you longer to open the packaging than the time it will save you.

Deja Vu! A friend of mine used to sell high-end car stereos years ago, these were around way back then…

    Tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1989!

Good idea, but it doesn´t work in cars with electronical switched lighter. So if you have a modern car be shure that your ligter-plug has power when the key is out of the igniton-lock.
