iTunes Phone … Take 2

If at first you don’t succeed … return rates for the Rokr, Motorola’s first iTunes phone seem to indicate it’s a flop. Today Motorola announced four new Razr handsets, including one that is preloaded with iTunes software.
The Razr V3i is expected to ship before the end of the year, and includes TransFlash support, a 1.23-megapixel digital camera with 8x digital zoom, video capture and a full-screen viewfinder … additionally the display will support 65K-colors and there will be integrated Bluetooth wireless.
Also introduced today was a new V3c for CDMA Ev-DO networks . Pretty much the same feature set as the V3i (minus iTunes), with a slightly better 1.3-megapixel camera. The final two models introduced today are color choices for the V3, a pink and a blue model.
We Say: We love the Razr, and sales show it to be a big seller for Motorola. Plugging iTunes into a Razr might be what’s needed for a successful iTunes phone … the big question is … will there still be a 100 song limit? We’ll have to watch this closely.

It’s still a dumb idea. Samsung Uproar 5 years ago also failed. blah blah blah. Do you really want to drain your battery listening to music?

Its hardly dumb. Why carry two devices around when one could do both. Has the advantage of being able to “turn down” the music when a call comes in.

i think the same… better handset but still bad idea… if we were talking about a microdrive or something with big capacity, it would be great, but again it’ll be dumb

Pretty soon when you go to the cell phone store you’re going to have to start asking if all the various gizmos come with phone functionality
