Yamaha Redefines the Scooter with the Gen-Ryu Electric Hybrid “Limosuine” Design

Am I the only one wondering how this differs from my Honda Helix?
Yamaha is to reveal a hybrid motorcycle concept at the Tokyo Show which is quite unlike any form of two wheeler seen to date. The motorcycle, to be known as the Gen-Ryu, uses the high output lightweight compact YZF-R6 600cc motor and an electric motor to deliver the type of performance normally associated with a much larger cpacity engine, and is packaged as a futuristic cruiser with advanced aerodynamics and some form of noise cancelling in the cockpit area to enable voice activation of the navigation system, mobile telephone, intercom communications with the pillion and other similarly equipped riders plus a dazzling array of advanced technologies such as headlights which turn to the inside of the corner and rear cameras playing through LCD screens in the dashboard. Alice Says: Bet Honda is kicking itself around the block for dropping this odd but compelling model.

The difference is that this will only be a concept vehicle. The Helix is/was real. (I sort of miss mine.)

Although it has the same sort of swept back look, it is really QUITE different than the Helix. I think the Helix was the cadillac of scooters and well ahead of it’s time. This seems to have taken things to the next (albeit overdone) level. I can only imagine the price!
