Calling all Bikers: Draxtar Chinese Aircraft Pilot Helmet Available Online

If you know anything about me, you know I love scooters almost as much as I love technology and gadgets. A loyal bike riding RTN reader name M Tate (who goes by the motto There’s nothing like the smell of burnt traffic in the morning) sent me info on a cool helmet he thinks I have to have, a modified copy of a Chinese aircraft pilot helmet now available for bikers. And I have to agree. Only catch: It’s pricey.
“I’ve been hearing about a German copy of a Chinese aircraft pilot helmet for awhile… Finally found it!! It’s current to road standards in the ECU, don’t know about here though. Price range is 199 Euros (approx $240 US) plus international S/H could bump it to $300 and up.”

I had a look but there doesn’t seem to be a big difference to present offerings. $300.00 by the time yo get it? I like to try ny helnets, a good fit is very important and two similar appearing helmets may deel totally different once worn and in action. I’m a HOG anf a long distance rider and am very pucky to what sits on top of me, it’s gotta have that right deeling and that can only be assessed by trial …

Hmmm. I didn’t see any mention of DOT certification on that website. That could prevent its use on US roads.

go in too any bike shop (find your own) and you can buy a DOT sticker, slap it on the back of dat helmet and you’ll be screamin down the road with full afterburners

(2) THE suit to have just to ride around in is the Deluxe Shuttle Pumpkin Space suit.
It’s approx $800.00. Very authentic looking. Just what I need in traffic.
(3) For the ultimate, theres the Apollo 17 moon suit. YESSSSSSS.
Museum quality, it’s very pricey… the suit is $8800 and the matching helmet is $2800.

I was intrigued, or more accurately, obsessed, when I read about this on webbikeworld.com. Pricey, indeed, around 300 dollars, but a very cool helmet nonetheless. Mine took about a week and a half to arrive. I ordered a medium. It feels a little snug and not as plushly padded as american helmets– not great, probably, for long distance riding, but definitely an eye catching helmet, which comes with both smoked and clear eye shield– the smoked looks really space helmet like! Order this from england, as I have not yet seen an american supplier. A real entrepreneur would import these in buk and introduce them to the US! I have the army green, which is actually a very very dark green– not a lightolive, and the coating/paint has a nice rubber-like feel to it. I might like to have purchased the silver if I had to do it over a again. i have a 1967 honda cL90.
