Uh-Oh: Take a Moment To Help RealTechNews

Today I got a nasty note from my web hosting company Dreamhost - it seems we have so much traffic now, they may not continue to host us at the very affordable and roomy price of $9.95 a month. (If you are a small blogger, I highly recommend their services. I have been a happy customer since 2000.) Anyway, I wanted to come up with a tasteful way to ask our readers to help out. Here they are in order of what would help the most - I hope you will choose at least one option.
1. Sponsor a Day on RealTechNews –Fun!
Make a $50 donation and we will make you literally king or queen for the day. We will post your picture, or your pet’s pic as well as anything you want to say about yourself or your family, company, hobby, whatever. Sponsoring a day is a great way to get your own blog noticed by the many tech readers, and it’s a fun way to star online while helping us out. Click Here if you are interested. 2. Make a Donation
See the PayPal button on the right? Please take a moment to make a donation. We ask for $25 as a suggestion, but as I always say, even a dollar helps. If you hate PayPal, email me and I will send you a mailing address where you can send a check or money order. I know everyone asks for money online, but we really need your help.
3. Support Our Sponsors
Note that I did not say click on the Google ads. That is against their policy and will get us in hot water. But the sponsored links down the right-hand side of this blog are begging for your attention and have no policy against asking readers to check them out. Please visit each one - I approved and rejected various sponsored ads to make sure they offered technical info our readers would like.
4. Link to Us
One of the reasons why we are getting popular is the growing number of sites that link to us. If you have a blog, will you please consider posting a link to RealTechNews.com on your site? And if you don’t own a blog, if you find an appropriate discussion board, or know a friend with a blog, would you post a link to us that is not spam, but a relevant link that ties in with a discussion thread. We have a ton of great topics and product coverage, so if you’re out there talking, please take a second to point to us. You can add us to your profile on MySpace or whatever online hangout you prefer. Just help get the links out there.

Jim - I am looking into the issue because one reader sent me a spam that came from our server, so someone may be piggybacking onto us and using my domain/account to generate a ton of spam. Once I hear back, I will look at other options, but in the meantime, we have strated to sign up sponsors, and that will really help.

Ya, Dreamhost is like that. I would recommend leaving them now while you can. I used to have my sites on there, however, I had horrible support, my websites had continuous downtime and they all got hacked from the server side!
I recommend either HostNine.com or JaguarPC.com, VPS at JaguarPC is great for high traffic, and you can do anything you like on it.
