Google’s PayPal Killer - “Google Purchases” Discovered Online

Can you feel the shaking and shuddering in the online industry? Fueled by ad revenue from down home little blogs like this one, Google is ramping up to be the 100 pound gorilla in just about every category it chooses to enter. Microsoft is smarting over Gmail, and just tonight there is word that Google will soon unleash an online payment system called Google Payments. We covered the rumor some time ago, but now it looks like the system is close to launch, or at least they got caught in the act. We Ask: Fact or Photoshop?
Google Purchases seems to be a definite product name… After logging into the Google Accounts page located at http://www.google.com/purchases (it won’t ever let us in, but logs in halfway where it will just ask for the password) we clicked on the register link… Low and behold. Update: The registration page that is shown above appears to be gone now, just shortly after we found it. They are still at work over at the GooglePlex. Source: Google Rumors

Thank goodness! I have two IRL friends that were royally screwed over by Paypal, and as a result I wouldn’t use them if they paid me. They are completely unresponsive for abuse or problems, so if Google stays true to their motto of not being evil, I for one will be extremely happy.

I also had problems with PayPal and I’ll be glad to have a second option for online payments. On the other hand, I’m collectiong some money from Google adsense, sent by checks. An online company like Google sending paper checks ? It’s time for Google Payments.

Too little too late, would love to see this try to compete with PayPal. To the whiners, what major website/business that continues to evolve doesn;t present some a few bugs ahere and there. We all hear about the “bad stories”, much like the media likes to sensationalize and we complain about. We don’t hear “good” news, cause “good” isn’t news, “good” isn’t sensation, it’s expectation.
Selling on ebay for over 6 years and using PayPal for over 5 i cannot mention a time it hasn’t worked for me or money was taken from me or a negative experience, and I have done quite a bit of business through them as an ebay PowerSeller.
Let Google come, many have and just as many have fallen.

Paypal ’stole’ money from me on the pretense that it was a charge from my bank then just threw terms and conditions at me when I complained - I would not use them again - any competition is great news !
Its how they deal with problems that measures a good company.
