LG Launches TiVo-Style Time Shifting for Your Cell Phone

I guess I am not surprised that mobile phone evolution goes like this: Cell phones get color screens, then musical tones, then pictures, then moving pictures (I won’t say video until the quality get a bit better.) And today, they are getting the ability to pause live video, TiVo-style.
LG Electronics unveils the world’s first digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) phone with a so-called ‘time machine’ function. While watching the broadcast, users can answer phone calls without worrying about missing important parts as the time-machine function in the phone saves them for replay. The phone will be introduced at the Korea Electronics Show 2005 which opens Tuesday at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province. Source: Thisearly.com

Seriously. This is really technology overkill. Why these developers insist on moving television to your cell phone is something I can’t figure out. They are trying to create a demand, rather than fill one. If there is something I can’t live without seeing, I will record it and watch it later on a regular-sized television screen.
