Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Delayed

Nokia said on Wednesday that it is delaying the release of its 770 Internet Tablet. Nokia told Reuters news service that it took longer to fine-tune the Linux platform than they had expected. The release date has now been pushed to October “to enable more mature software at launch”. Nokia previously announced that the Nokia 770 will be released by the third quarter of 2005.
The $350 device (Nokia 770 review) has attracted a lot of attention because it is based on Linux and has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support and also because it is focused on the Internet, enabling Web browsing and e-mail. You got it right - this is no phone, it is an “on-the-go gadget”. Well, I could also see myself lying on the sofa and surfing the web…
Our take: Interesting, but who is the target group? Is the 770 for business, gaming, surfing or something else? I think I have heard some official voice from Nokia say this is a “leisure device”.
