Wars have ended in treaties In 1840 New Zealand the Treaty of Waitangi was signed jointly from the English & Maori however the Maori Chiefs were tricked by the English who bribed the Maori with tobacco, guns & alcohol. Because the more the Maori Chiefs drank alcohol the more each Maori chief signed. Also The English had an advantage by learning the Maori language when in New Mealand Maoris couldn't be bothered to learn the English language.
