Hands-On Review of the OZiQ All-in-One PC

We made a brief mention of the OZiQ All-in-one PC some weeks ago. Since then, we’ve met and interviewed the guy from Tucana Innovations who designed the OZiQ and also spent a few hours with the very capable all-in-one machine. Verdict: probably one of the most eco-friendliest PCs.
Highlights
* The OZiQ comes with either a touch screen or a standard LCD.
Some applications absolutely demand the interactivity that can only come from using a touch panel and some folks can happily do without one. Personally, I love the touch screens on my iPAQs and Flybook and would not want to have my new PC without that feature.
* Which is the proper way to power down your computer?
Microsoft wants you to go to Start, Turn Off Computer and then press one of 3 options…Why not just switch it off like your TV? The OZiQ is automatically programmed to shut Windows XP down properly.
Did I mention TV? Some models will have an integrated TV module so if you go caravanning you can really have everything all-in-one. They are also working on an optional toaster pack to go in place of that DVD slot. Just kidding…
* I love devices with as few external wires as possible.
The OZiQ, being integrated, gets rid of some obvious wiring and has easy access for those cables that still need to be plugged in, like power, FireWire, USB, audio, PS2 and some legacy peripherals.
* A small footprint.
This All-in-one PC comes with a VESA mount (this early 15” demo model did not have one) meaning you have the flexibility to hang them on a flexi arm, mount to the wall or just unclip it and take it home. Source and complete review here: The DigitalReviews Network

I dumped upon the predecessor story because I thought this device was vaporware.
I read the article and then visited the www.osiq.com.au website and I still think it is vaporware.
I am not denying that someone got to play with a working prototype. I am saying that you will never be able to buy one of these machines.

Hey, we’re not talking about something that hasn’t been done before!
PS maybe because of your misspelling of the name OZiQ that you thought it was vaporware?

Apple have already produced such a computer some years ago, its called the imac, a much cleaner design too.
No touch screen, but I can’t see a great advantage there, as you have to raise your hand shoulder high away from the keyboard and mouse.
The first “flat screen” imac was best, as you could raise, lower, swivel and tilt the screen to the best position that suits you or your partner. The latest one just tilts, but is a much neater design and it has just a slot for the CD or DVD, no ugly tray shooting out of the side.
Check the Apple computers if you you’re looking for great designs.

Sorry I was forgetting there were three generations of imac. I was referring to the 2nd & 3rd generations.
The first generation shape had a much larger foot print and is still on sale as the inexpensive emac, which has a greater improved performance and a flat screen.

Those guys from Tucana Innovations are liars. They didn’t designed the all-in-one PCs, but bought them from China. Please refer to www.made-in-china.com, in the computer category, there are many of them. You will see who is the real designer.
