Multiplayer Version of F.E.A.R. Coming September 29

Billed as the “Half-Life killer”, F.E.A.R. (or First Encounter Assault Recon) is a fantastic first person shooter that was available as a demo in single player mode last month. If you didn’t download the single player version, you can do so here. Meanwhile for all of us dying to duke it out in multiplayer mode, a new MP download is coming your way September 29th. And of course, the real deal goes on sale October 18.

Unfortunately the MP demo won’t feature LAN player capability, so you won’t be able to play with mates in a face-to-face environment. That’ll have to wait for the full version, due for release on the 18th October. Expect to be able to download the MP demo on Thursday, September 29 at 8:00 a.m. PDT. Source: Joystiq

So how many players can play at one time? This is based on the Doom3 engine and it was horrible at doing so more than 4 players over the internet. I think games should be able to handle 16 minimum, but 20-24 would be better.

Um the Jupiter graphics engine is made entirely in house at Monolith and is the succesor to the Mercury engine used in No One Lives Forever 2. Maybe the previous comment is referring to the long delayed game PREY by 3drealms, which is using the doom 3 engine.
