BlackBerry 8700 (code-named Electron) Expected in Weeks

I’ve owned a Blackberry since the very first pager-shaped model and this 8700 model has me drooling. (I have to say I passed on the one that is more phone than email device - the custom auto text in the Blackberry OS is to me the single greatest email feature I have ever seen.) But I digress…here’s news about the upcoming BlackBerry 8700. If they can offer the week+ battery life I have come to know and love, then I will be the first kid on the block to own one.
“The talk started on Thursday when athreya, a member of BlackBerryForums.com, and the person who first revealed plans for the BlackBerry 7290 to the Forum, posted to the group that his (unnamed) organization had been testing the 8700. That’s the same BlackBerry that according to scuttlebutt, has been code-named Electron.
“According to athreya, the new unit will be available sometime in the next couple of months, and will be compatible with Verizon, Cingular and SprintNextel networks. He says the 8700 will be broadband-capable, with EVDO for Verizon, BB for SprintNextel, and EDGE for Cingular. Source: BBHub.com
